With these words, Stefano Ronca, owner of Geo Center and one of the creators of Portale Genio, introduces the platform, whose goal is to provide tools, news, and everything useful to explore and harness the potential of intermodal transport.
The primary goal of the new platform is to offer users a simple and comprehensive representation of European intermodality. Through the app, which is the core of Portale Genio, users can—for example—simulate a journey by choosing either rail or sea routes.
“The growing interest from the market in the intermodal sector is what pushed us to take on this new challenge,” says Ronca. “This achievement is just a starting point. We’re already planning new major features such as Euro-Asian connections, air routes, artificial intelligence integration, and much more. We’ve cast an eye on the near future—but in the meantime, we’re enjoying the present.”
Among the many features offered, the app also allows users to identify companies operating in the intermodal sector and the facilities where they are based. A variety of additional tools and data—such as an “Ask the Expert” help desk, cartographic maps, a blog, and a section for technical insights—aim to help road-only companies understand intermodality more easily, while also offering innovative tools for businesses already using intermodal transport.
“In essence, Genio is a sort of showcase that highlights what intermodality is made of: infrastructures, connections, and companies, all of which can use this platform to promote their own services,” Ronca further explains. “The cross-sector information offered by Portale Genio makes it a unique product in the current market.”
