For over 15 years, Adriafer has been working to create an integrated railway system connecting the maritime terminals of the Port of Trieste, inland hubs, and the national railway network. The company plays a key role in establishing efficient connections between all areas of interest of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, Northeastern Europe, and Italy.
Since 2004, Adriafer has been providing port railway shunting services, operating in the rail-connected terminals of the port and also on RFI tracks at the Trieste Campo Marzio service area. The company centralizes and manages all shunting operations on behalf of the railway companies operating in Trieste.
By unifying general interest railway shunting services, Adriafer significantly reduces train transfer times between arrival and departure tracks managed by RFI at Trieste Campo Marzio and the rail-connected terminals of the port for cargo unloading and loading operations.
Appointed by the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea (AdSPMAO) as the sole operator of railway shunting services in the Trieste district, Adriafer carries out operations based on a scheduled and continuously updated plan in collaboration with railway operators and terminals.
As a certified Railway Undertaking, Adriafer provides traction services on Infrastructure Manager networks, tailored to the needs of the port for short- and medium-range routes within the regional territory.
Rail services from Trieste connect, with varying frequencies, to Austria, Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Luxembourg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovakia. National connections primarily serve Milan and Padua.
In collaboration with VTG Rail Europe, Adriafer introduces EasyWagon, a fully managed wagon leasing serviceoperated by Adriafer Rail Services. This subsidiary provides the expertise and support needed for the launch and development of new railway services.
